Corporate Account Executive (£500K inherited portfolio!)
As time served insurance professionals know, opportunities to inherit books of business are few and far between. To be gifted such a substantial portfolio comprising corporate (including global) accounts, even more so.
Furthermore, this role has arisen due to the incumbent Account Executive leaving the insurance industry, so you will not be defending the account from attack, as may otherwise be the case. The account generates fees of circa £500K, with individual cases ranging from £15K - £70K income. Clients are from a wide range of industry sectors such as Tech, Food & Beverage, Retail and Manufacturing. The majority of clients are UK domiciled, and many have extensive exposures overseas. You may also help colleagues (typically in the US and Germany) who have reverse flow business whose UK operations are based locally.
With the support of a dedicated team of Corporate Account Handlers, you will be responsible for managing the portfolio, ensuring a high level of client service is provided at all times. You will build a sound understanding of your clients’ businesses, ensuring that all their exposures to risks are appropriately mitigated. You will present your findings on the suitability of their insurance programmes in a variety of highly detailed, technical and professional rapports and secure clients’ the most comprehensive cover available. Given the complexity of accounts held, you will be liaising with colleagues from specialist teams to ensure that the best advice is given and best cover is achieved.
As one would expect for such a role, it is essential that you have experience of dealing with large and complex corporate accounts, together with a sound working knowledge of all common commercial lines including Property, Liability, Engineering, Fleet and Financial Lines. Whilst it is anticipated that the successful candidate will be ACII qualified, we do welcome applications from high calibre candidates who have chosen not to progress with professional qualifications.
As ‘cultural fit’ is equally important within this team, it is imperative that you are highly professional and able to build rapport with large corporate concerns. You must also be diligent, with a keen eye for detail, and conduct yourself with the utmost integrity at all times. We are particularly interested in speaking to candidates from similar global broking houses, but are also keen to hear from candidates from the national, regional and provincial broking firms, who understand the corporate broking market and have a demonstrable track record of managing clients generating five figure brokerage.
You will receive a generous basic salary (anticipated to be circa £55K, but negotiable for outstanding candidates), bonus, car / allowance and very competitive pension scheme. You will be granted a great deal of autonomy in this role, including how you run your diary. Whilst you will spend a large portion of your time with clients, it is feasible that you may be based in the Milton Keynes or Cambridge office.
