About the Team
The Claims department aim to be market-leaders in the provision of an efficient, cost-effective and professional service to their brokers and clients. The claims team works with the underwriting team in order to facilitate close communication and exchange of ideas, and is an integral part of the product and customer service delivered to clients.
This Team manages all claims deemed 'legacy'. Legacy is any discontinued business which has been approved for transfer to this team who are managing over 8,000 direct and reinsurance claims covering multiple classes of business including; Marine, Aviation, Motor, A&H, Property, Banks Liability, Italian Public Officials, etc.
·Drive, facilitate and deliver a customer focused approach to claims which is measurable through: speed of service and open, honest and personable communications with all brokers and (re)insureds.
·Primarily manage Casualty and Motor treaty claims as well as providing support for the reinsurance portfolio as and where required.
·Manage potentially significant claims in line with the Claims Handling Manual and escalate any issues where appropriate.
·Perform account and class of business reviews with an aim to cleanse, close-out, and/or look to negotiate settlement or commutation.
·Provide high quality commentary on the weekly movements, monthly and quarterly reports to the Claims Director, highlighting significant new notifications, claim trends or developments.
·Carry out the required claim audits and have oversight of the outcome, actions arising and ensuring these are followed up appropriately, actioned and documented.
·Oversight of expert providers ensuring that they are acting in line with the company claims philosophy and reserving philosophy
·Maintain good working relationships with the Actuarial and Outwards Reinsurance Team.
Key Skills/ Experience
·Handling a wide variety of reinsurance claims, ideally with a strong background in general liability. UK Motor experience essential.
·Have a working knowledge of the claims environment and be an experienced claims practitioner with relevant London Market experience
·Be customer focused, in particular to understand the importance of the quality, clarity and speed of service delivery.
·Ideally have experience handling legacy claims as well as having strong negotiation skills
·Have strong written and spoken communication skills in the English language
·Experience in account reviews, audits, and commutation negotiations
